Kieron

Smell

The first time I met Estraya she was covered in dirt and grime but even then I knew she was special. Despite the filth that covered her skin she smelled like lilies. Rich and sweet. She calmed me when I thought nothing would soothe the beast beneath my skin. In a word she was intoxicating and looking back on it now I can see that the first time I took that smell of lilies into my lungs I was addicted. I can never get enough of her now.

He closed his eyes, savouring the sensation as warmth raced through his veins, his skin prickling in anticipation. His lack of sight brought his sense of smell into sharp focus and he swayed gently as the intoxicating smell of lilies crowded his mind. Sweet, he purred contentedly. So sweet.

Touch

Have you ever had something so out of your league that you knew you shouldn’t even try to touch it? That’s exactly what Estraya was to me. She was like a star. Shining brightly, well out of the reach of mere mortals. I knew that we were leagues apart, how could I not? My entire town reminded me of what a monster I was every single day of my life. But I couldn’t help myself with her, I reached out and grabbed her with both hands and I knew the first time I kissed her that I was well and truly damned.

“Stupid! Stupid! I can’t believe I kissed her! What was I thinking? She’s going to think of me like she thinks of him. Stupid arrogant bastard! I’m going to kill him…slowly when he gets back. Consequences be damned. I’ll make it look like an accident.” He groaned as though in pain and Estraya walked towards him helpless to prevent herself moving and unwilling to even try. If he was in pain she wanted to sooth him. “I can’t believe I kissed her. I should have known better. How could someone like her ever want to be with someone like me? Monsters like me should know better than to try and reach for the stars.”

Taste

If I thought was addicted to the smell of her then I was wrong. It was the way she tasted that really sealed my fate. As soon as I tasted her she became a fever in my blood. I couldn’t get her out! I couldn’t think of anything else but getting another taste. She drove me mad with wanting and when there’s a monster lurking beneath your skin madness is never a wise idea. I knew all of this and yet I couldn’t help myself.

She gasped at the sensation, her eyes becoming heavy lidded as pleasure sizzled through her veins. Ruthless, Kieron seized the opportunity she’d presented him to plunder the warm depths of her mouth. His lips pressed firmly against her mouth, his tongue sliding in to her entwine with hers. More! His mind demanded. Logic had disappeared the instant he’d touched her. Thought fleeing almost immediately after until he was ruled by instinct and his instincts were aggressive, demanding that he bind them together intimately.

Sound

If I were to die tomorrow, I’d do it with a smile on my face so long as Estraya’s was the last thing I heard. Listening to her soothes me. When I hear her voice I feel calm…normal…And when she sings I feel like I could fly. If beauty saves the beast and music soothes a savage soul then I must be the luckiest man alive because she’s both all in one package. I tried to keep her away, tried to keep her at arms length but whenever she called to me with that beautiful voice I was lost.

“Wait, please don’t go. Help me.”

Her voice was musical, moving through his body like a calming breeze and Kieron let himself have the small pleasure of savouring the sound before he realised what he was doing. He hardened himself against her pleas, turning to face her, his frosty expression hidden by the swath of material covering his face. “Why should I do that?”

Her brows drew together in confusion as though she weren’t used to having her requests denied. “Why should you help me?” she said slowly as though trying to fathom the reason for his refusal.

“Yes. I don’t know you nor do I care to. Why should I help you?”

“Please, I’m begging you.”

Her words touched Kieron, compelling him to give her aid and his scowl deepened. It was quickly becoming obvious that the woman inspired strange feelings within him and that was a dangerous fact. His emotions and powers were volatile enough as it was, he didn’t need an unknown element adding more instability.

Sight

When I saw her I could only think of one thing. She was the most beautiful creature I’d ever seen. I couldn’t breathe, I couldn’t think all I could do was stare at her. The moment I looked into her eyes I knew my life would never be the same again.

He stalked closer to the source of the sound, stunned by what he found. Rather than a drunken idiot or a group of adolescents trying to prove their worth, a woman lay panting heavily against the ground. The moonlight faded, obscuring his vision and he moved forward silently, curiosity compelling him to discover more. She rolled over as the light from the moon was revealed again and Kieron sucked in a stunned breath. He’d never seen a woman so beautiful in all the years of his life.

You’re a rare thing Tammy. Most people are going for touch but I agree with you. I think smell is a very powerful sense and is often overlooked for the more tactile senses of touch. Glad to see that there are other people out there that share my thoughts on the matter.

All the descriptions were great. I think sound is very important. If you close your eyes when someone is talking to you, you can hear the emotion or lack of in their voice. Most people rely on sight to interpret what is being said by body language, but I think sound is much more important. Just ask anyone who is sight impaired.

Sound? A good choice! There’s definitely something to be said about how words can change the world.
