Seared by Desire – Paranormal
So here we are at the end of our descent down the rabbit hole of pages and I thought we’d end with the Paranormal. 😉 It’s a good a place to end our journey as any other.
The Paranormal. The weird and wonderful. Things above and beyond our normal world. Are you ready to fall into pages of the paranormal? Yes. I was hoping you’d say that. I’d like to introduce you to Lucian, a rather single minded vampire. I apologise in advance for him.
Jen: So Lucian, you’re a paranormal creature. Why don’t you tell us a little about the paranormal elements in Seared by Desire?
Lucian: Honestly I’d rather not. This whole thing seems like a waste of my time. I have better things to be doing but seeing as I don’t have a choice in the matter I’ll make this short. There is nothing out of the ordinary about me and my kind where I’m from. What does it matter that I need blood to survive? As long as I don’t kill you when I’m taking it my being a vampire should be of no consequence to you. Besides, I have a bride. I have no need of any one else’s blood though in the beginning I wanted nothing to do with hers either…..
Sara panted heavily, confusion evident in her gaze as she tried to understand what had made Lucian withdraw from her embrace. His fingers gently touched the pale skin of his neck and he cursed when he pulled them away finding rich red blood on his fingertips.
“Sara,” he growled. “What have you been doing to yourself?” Taking her hands within his own, he examined her palm swearing when he saw the deep gouges against her flesh.
Sara stuttered, unsure of exactly what to say. His brows were drawn tightly together in disapproval at the abused skin but he was licking his lips almost hungrily, his now sharp fangs peeking out from his lips as he spoke. “I, I, I –”
How many ways do you think you can tempt me before I simply give in? I’m only a man and you tear away my control. “You have to take better care of yourself,” he scolded, tearing a strip from his shirt and wrapping it around her bleeding palm.
“I can forgive you as long as you give up this idea of you leaving me.”
“That’s enough Sara. You don’t really want to leave me.” And I don’t want you to leave me. “I’ll deal with the Malachites and then return to speak with your people. If necessary I’ll tell them you died, they won’t know any better. Now, go inside and pack. We’re leaving tonight.”
“You shouldn’t be doing this for me Lucian. Endangering your people for a woman you barely know? It doesn’t make sense.”
“Life is a lesson in things that will never make sense, all we can do is walk our own path and see where it leads.” His hands on her shoulders, he guided her to the door, whispering in her ear before gently pushing her out, “Your path lies with mine. Walk it together with me.”
She stumbled, turning around only to find that Lucian had disappeared. Hiding in the shadows, Lucian watched as she turned her head in search of him, wishing he could go to her but knowing he couldn’t. His eyes were locked onto his blood soaked fingers and though he cursed himself, he brought one to his lips, groaning as her taste exploded on his tongue. A string of curses left his lips as he wiped the rest of her blood onto his clothes before he looked at his tempting bride once again. His deep set frown disappeared, turning into a smile when he saw her walking back towards the main part of the manor, her spine straight, her head held high. She was a law unto herself his tempting little bride.
So shoot me! I couldn’t resist getting a little romance in there. And with the paranormal over that means our time together is over too. Thanks for joining me on this fall into pages. I hope you enjoyed it and I hope you win lots of freebies!!
